HUB Team Haugen + Gold Beach Lumber

Built for the families that have built Oregon's coast for four generations. A coordinated commercial P&C program designed around Gold Beach Lumber's 10 locations, acquisition trajectory, and the specialty exposures that come with coastal multi-location retail.

WHY TEAM HAUGEN
Gold Beach Lumber — coastal Oregon delivery operations, vintage era

Company Overview

Gold Beach Lumber is a four-generation, family-owned hardware and lumber operation that has served Oregon's coast since 1959. Founded by Clarence and Pearl Ringer in Hunter Creek as Home & Building Supply, the company has grown into a 10-location retail and contractor supply business operating across Curry, Coos, Jackson, and Jefferson counties. Today, Ryan Ringer leads the business as the fourth generation of Ringer family ownership.

GBL is in genuine transition. Three acquisitions in 2025 alone — including Hennick's Home Centers in Coos Bay and Dazey's Hubbards in Medford (the oldest hardware store in Oregon, established 1884) — plus a greenfield build under construction in Madras, have expanded the company's property schedule, employee count, vehicle fleet, and geographic footprint significantly. The insurance program needs to keep pace.

The Fit

Why Team Haugen

Gold Beach Lumber needs more than a generic broker. They need a brokerage that understands multi-location retail, coastal Oregon catastrophe exposure, contractor-yard operations, and the pace of an active acquirer. That's exactly where Team Haugen operates every day.

Multi-Location Account Coordination

10 locations across 4+ Oregon counties under multiple brand names need a single broker who can manage property schedules, WC experience mods, auto fleets, and umbrella layers across every location — not a patchwork of coverage from multiple agents.

Coastal Oregon Specialty Placement

Coastal Oregon lumber yards are a specialty placement. Wildfire risk, Cascadia earthquake exposure, and flood zones don't always fit standard markets. Team Haugen has access to specialty carriers and the construction/wood products experience to place these accounts correctly — not just cheaply.

Wood Products & Building Materials Roots

Team Haugen's book includes construction, wood products, and building materials accounts. We understand the dual exposure of a contractor-facing supply business and can speak the language of risk management at the yard level.

Acquisition-Era Brokerage

Three acquisitions in 2025 plus a greenfield build in Madras means GBL's risk profile is changing fast. Property schedules, employee counts, vehicle fleets, and geographic footprint are all expanding. A broker who understands M&A integration and can keep coverage current with the pace of growth is worth the conversation.

Retail + Contractor Fluency

GBL serves contractors and homeowners alike. Team Haugen understands both sides of that exposure — retail premises liability and the products/completed operations exposure that comes from selling materials used on jobsites.

Family Business Stewardship

Four generations of Ringers have built this company on community and trust. Team Haugen brings the same values — a team-based, relationship-first approach rather than a transactional renewal cycle.

Exposure Map

Key P&C Risk Areas

A coordinated read on where Gold Beach Lumber's operation creates meaningful P&C exposure — across 10 locations, an active acquisition trajectory, and a coastal Oregon catastrophe profile.

How Team Haugen Structures the Program

Gold Beach Lumber isn't a single-policy account.

Four structural challenges, one coordinated program response.

10 Locations Under One Coordinated Program

Gold Beach Lumber operates 10 stores across Curry, Coos, Jackson, and Jefferson counties under multiple brand identities. Each location has its own property, WC, and auto profile — but they share one operational organization.

  • 10 locations across 4+ Oregon counties
  • Multiple brand identities (GBL, Cascade Home Center, Hennick's, Dazey's)
  • Consolidated property schedule across every store
  • Unified WC mod tracking across the workforce
  • Single point of accountability — not a patchwork of agents

How Team Haugen Responds

We coordinate one master program across every location — consolidated property schedule, aligned WC reporting, unified umbrella tower — so the back-office burden of running 10 stores doesn't multiply with each acquisition. One renewal cycle, one point of contact, one program structure sized to the whole operation.

Risk Servicing

How HUB Approaches Coastal Oregon Multi-Location Risk

HUB International Northwest's Risk Servicing team operates as an embedded safety partner — not an outside vendor. For a multi-location hardware and lumber operation like Gold Beach Lumber, this means risk professionals who understand lumber yard operations, forklift safety programs, retail premises exposure, fleet operations across rural coastal roads, and the workforce integration challenges that come with rapid acquisition.

Annual Site Visits

Regular on-site engagement with operational teams — not annual policy reviews from a desk. Risk consultants walk the floor, assess actual conditions, and document trends across visits.

Hazard Analysis & Loss Prevention

Targeted hazard reviews focused on the specific risk profile of multi-location lumber and hardware retail — yard operations, forklift handling, retail premises, fleet operations, and contractor-yard interactions.

Year-End Stewardship Reporting

Customized annual summaries documenting program performance, hazard trending, injury data analysis, and forward-looking risk priorities. Built for operational leadership, not just brokers.

On-Demand Virtual Support

Between visits, the risk team is reachable for specific questions — regulatory changes, new equipment installations, incident response, or program adjustments. Not a phone tree, not a ticket queue.

Your Story, Told to Carriers

Most submissions tell carriers what you do. Ours show them who you are. We build custom underwriting microsites for our clients — purpose-built to communicate your operations, safety culture, and risk controls directly to the markets that matter.

  • Carriers gain immediate confidence in your operations — not just your loss runs
  • Safety investments and risk controls are clearly communicated and credible
  • Track record of improved pricing and broader coverage options at renewal
  • Builds long-term carrier relationships beyond the transaction

Let's Talk

Let's have the conversation.

Gold Beach Lumber isn't buying insurance off a website. We're not trying to sell one. This is an invitation for a 30-minute conversation about how Team Haugen would coordinate a multi-location program for GBL — whether that becomes a quote, a second opinion, or just a useful industry benchmark.

Team Haugen is ready to step in with an Oregon-based, retail-and-contractor-fluent team, full HUB International market access, and a program structure built around GBL's actual operation — every location, every brand, every acquisition.
